70-year-old man requires helicopter transport from Purgatory Resort

Skier found unconscious; extent of injures unknown
A Flight for Life helicopter was sent to Purgatory Resort on Friday to rescue a 70-year-old man who was found unconscious on the side of a ski trail. No further information about the man’s condition was immediately available Friday afternoon.

A 70-year-old man found unconscious along a ski trail Friday at Purgatory Resort required a helicopter transport to Mercy Regional Medical Center, a resort spokesman said.

Greg Ralph said the man was found on the side of a ski run about 11 a.m. He was unconscious, Ralph said, and it was unclear whether his condition was the result of a ski accident.

A Flight for Life helicopter was called and landed at the base of Lift 3, on the backside of the mountain.

Ralph did not know the extent of the man’s injuries or his name when contacted Friday afternoon. Ralph did not return calls seeking an update around 4 p.m.
