When asked why he did the ride, Jaklitsch said: “Because it’s possible.” The group of Austrians was planning to spend a day in Durango before heading off to Las Vegas. About 180 riders competed in Jaklitsch’s race. Riders in the Race Across America will be traveling through Durango during the next several days on their coast-to-coast journey from Oceanside to Annapolis, Md.
