9-R board should be treated with respect

The 9-R School Board has a difficult job. Its members volunteer their time and need to make decisions that sometimes cannot please everyone.

I support the board’s decision to have students wear masks at the beginning of this school year. It’s an inconvenience but will help protect students, their families and their teachers from the resurgent COVID-19.

It was shocking to hear about the group of anti-maskers disrupting the last board meeting with their rude comments, insulting signs and threatening behavior. Board members should not have to put up with this. The 9-R School Board elections are coming up on Nov.r 2. People should pay attention and vote for candidates who will continue this board’s good example by following the science and making decisions based upon what is best for our children’s health and the well-being of the community.
