9-R fills various job openings

Three hires in technology, facilities and athletics

Durango School District 9-R on Tuesday announced new hires and job transitions for the upcoming school year.

Ed Webb, a new hire, will be supervisor of facilities. He will oversee grounds and equipment maintenance.

He comes from Fort Lewis College where he held a similar position.

Zach Mather, who has 12 years experience in information technology, mostly at Harrison District Two in Colorado Springs, will be director of technology for 9-R.

Ken Jones, the interim director of technology for 15 months, will remain as interim coordinator of technology.

Tam Smith, former Miller Middle School principal, will become principal of Shared School. Shared School provides 200 home schooled and private school students with enrichment courses. Shared School is expanding to include middle school grades.

David Preszler, with 35 years in high school and college athletics, is the new athletics director. Preszler has worked at Montana State University and Fort Lewis College where he was director of athletics for five years.

Earlier in his career, he was a principal and director of athletics at Bayfield High School.
