A call for grace, gratitude and support

In a time when tensions run high, costs keep climbing and uncertainty has become routine, it’s easy for communities to feel fractured. Many of us are feeling the strain – financially, emotionally and socially. That’s exactly why it’s crucial to focus on what holds us together, not what pulls us apart.

Our community has long relied on a network of organizations and services that support our most vulnerable neighbors. These aren’t optional extras; they’re the backbone of our shared well-being. Shelter services, food programs, mental health support, youth initiatives and the nonprofits that quietly fill the gaps and provide stability.

We also owe gratitude to the people who keep showing up – local leaders, civil servants, nonprofit staff, volunteers and advocates. Those who navigate hard conversations, make tough decisions and face criticism while working toward solutions. They deserve our patience, respect and grace. Showing up is not always easy, and doing so with best intentions should never go unnoticed.

As challenges continue, let’s not forget who has always been there, year after year.

Support can take many forms: donating if you’re able, volunteering, advocating for their programs or offering a genuine thank you. Small gestures matter – they remind people that their work is matters and is valued.

In times of strain, our strength shows in how we treat those who hold our community together. And to all who care, try and do: thank you.
