This is par for the course for Israel’s Netanyahu. Palestinians unaffiliated with Hamas kill an Israeli soldier during the ceasefire. Netanyahu then unleashes his war machine and kills 100 Palestinians in response. (“Israel says it’s resuming the ceasefire after its strikes in Gaza kill over 100 people,” NPR, Oct. 29).
That’s what Moses prescribed, wasn’t it? A hundred teeth for one tooth, a hundred eyes for one eye, a hundred lives for one life? You would think that Netanyahu would want to maintain actual biblical standards for recompensing evil to suit all the religious conservatives in his cabinet. But, no, none of them seems to care.
And, President Trump is all for it. As a deeply spiritual Christian, #47 remembers that Jesus said, “Kill until no one is left standing.” At least, I think that’s what Jesus said. I could be wrong.
