A long trip ends with a loss

FLC volleyball is swept by the Mustangs in Silver City, N.M., to drop to 1-11

The last match of a brutally long road trip didn’t start off treating the Fort Lewis College volleyball team much better than any of the others.

The Skyhawks were swept by Western New Mexico 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 on Friday in Silver City, N.M., to fall to 1-11 overall and 1-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Ashley Wells led FLC in kills with eight, while Hannah Starbuck added seven and Kristin Stephan six. Heather Danny had 27 assists and Jenna Kinzer 13 digs for the Skyhawks.

Angelina Pulu had 10 kills and Bobbi Bayer nine for the Mustangs, and Pulu led the team in digs with 17. Alyssa Meihack had 34 assists for Western N.M. (9-2, 2-1 RMAC).

FLC will return home Friday for its home opener against Western State at 7 p.m. at Whalen Gymnasium.
