A new year, a new Durango Arts Center

Jason Lythgoe

As we wrap up a wonderful holiday season at the Durango Arts Center, we reflect on the joy and creativity that have filled our hearts and halls over the past year. It has been a year of connection, inspiration, change and growth, and we owe it all to the incredible support of our community. Whether you joined us for a gallery show, took a class or came to applaud at one of the shows, we are deeply grateful for your commitment to keeping the creative spirit alive in Durango.

Now, as we look ahead to 2025, we are excited about the opportunities that the new year will bring. The DAC is entering this new year with fresh energy, new programs and a renewed commitment to providing our community with a vibrant hub of art, culture and creativity. “A New Year, A New DAC” is not just a tagline, but a reflection of the many exciting changes and opportunities that lie ahead.

We kick off the year with an enchanting new gallery exhibit, “Whimsical Wonderland,” which will open this month. This exhibit promises to transport visitors into a world of imagination, and fantastical themes come together in a delightful celebration of creativity. Featuring works by local artists who explore the intersection of whimsy and wonder, this exhibit is sure to captivate art lovers of all ages.

But that’s just the beginning. As always, the DAC is dedicated to fostering creative expression and providing opportunities for people of all ages to explore their artistic potential. We are thrilled to announce a brand new slate of art and theater classes in 2025. Whether you’re a beginner looking to explore painting or a seasoned performer eager to hone your skills, our classes are designed to inspire and challenge. There’s a class for every interest and skill level, and a perfect way to kick off the year by embarking on your own creative journey.

The theater will be booming all year long with the amazing Durango Arts Repertory Theatre’s fourth season, including the return of a Durango entertainment staple – a melodrama. The DAC is proud and honored to be a home to dozens of other community events throughout 2025, including the Snowdown Follies, Durango Independent Film Festival, Play and Ragtime festivals, Lower Left Improv, concerts and movies and so much more.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our community. Your participation, generosity and passion for the arts are what make the DAC a true beacon of creativity in our town. Together, we’ve created a space where artists can thrive, ideas can flourish and the arts can continue to enrich our lives.

As we usher in 2025, we want to extend our heartfelt holiday wishes to each of you. May this new year be filled with joy, inspiration and countless moments of creative expression. Thank you for helping make the DAC a thriving and dynamic part of Durango’s cultural landscape. We can’t wait to share all the wonderful experiences that the new year will bring with all of you.

Here’s to a bright, beautiful and creative 2025. See you at the DAC!
