A thing worth doing is worth doing well

I second Ed Lehner’s (Herald, June 22) call for the city of Durango to redo the new Animas River Trail signs so that the text and graphics send a clear and consistent message.

I commend the city on installing the signs and creating a catchy mantra: “Pedal light. Leash tight. Walk on the right.” Indeed, I have noticed more cyclists announcing their approach verbally or with bells. This is a welcome change.

At the same time, I have also noticed a number of pedestrians walking on the left or middle of the trail. This creates a hazard. The idiom that a thing worth doing is worth doing well applies here. Please, fix the signs.
