The proposed one cent sales tax increase is earmarked to fund key areas of need including infrastructure upkeep, public safety and social support programs. Specifically, it will:
- Support law enforcement operations.
- Enhance disaster response capabilities.
- Provide services for veterans, seniors and at-risk families.
- Sustain other critical county programs as community needs grow.
- Maintain and repair roads and bridges.
It’s not about what has or hasn’t happened in the past 25 years, it’s about what needs to happen for the next 25 years. We must look to the future and not be stuck in the past and its mistakes.
A 1% sales tax increase for the county will bridge many gaps in the funding of our local community and every penny stays local. I encourage everyone to look closely at what is at stake at onecentlaplata.com. The county will survive without the increase, but many services from safety, quality of life and care for all will be severely cut. Vote “yes” on 1A.
