I read the message from Richard Ballantine (Herald, March 29) regarding recent delivery changes and appreciate your acknowledgment of the challenges faced by readers with disabilities, P.O. boxes, and communal mailboxes.
However, as a person with disabilities, I am concerned that directing subscribers to the e-edition or to seek help from neighbors may not be sufficient. Under Colorado public accommodation laws, businesses serving the public should have a process for providing reasonable accommodations.
The Herald could better serve readers by creating a simple accommodation process for subscribers unable to retrieve their paper due to disability. For example, an option for alternative delivery assistance could be offered.
I would be willing to help develop a solution and, if appropriate, assist with delivery for those in need. At a minimum, I encourage the Herald to publicly outline a process so subscribers know how to request assistance.
