A 19-year-old man who died from a gunshot wound last weekend northeast of Durango was identified Tuesday as Andrew Samora.
The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting is under investigation, including whether it was accidental, suicide or homicide.
“They (investigators) are still trying to complete some interviews and talk to a few more people to determine exactly what went on,” said Lt. Pat Downs, with the Sheriff’s Office, during a brief interview Tuesday.
La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said an autopsy was performed Tuesday. She said Samora died from a single gunshot wound. She was not immediately sure where Samora was living, but said his body is going to a funeral home in Colorado Springs.
The death was reported about 10:45 a.m. Sunday on Highland Hill Drive, near the 2000 block of Florida Road (County Road 240) just northeast of city limits.
