Actions speak much louder than words

I am writing to address an important issue regarding community engagement concerning land-use codes in La Plata County. Recently, the county concluded interviews for positions on boards and commissions that shape this critical topic. However, those residents most vocal about this issue did not apply for a seat concerning this pivotal role.

If residents truly care about advocating for meaningful change, it is essential that they participate in the decision-making processes that impact our future. Active involvement in these boards and commissions is vital for bringing about policies that reflect the needs and interests of our entire community.

A comprehensive understanding of local issues comes not only from personal opinions but also from firsthand experience and engagement in governance. Voicing concerns is important, but it must be paired with informed participation that fosters healthy dialogue and leads to actionable solutions.

I encourage all residents of La Plata County, especially those with strong opinions on land-use codes, to step forward and get involved. By actively engaging in the processes that govern our community, we can ensure that discussions lead to positive changes that benefit us all.

Let us promote not only the expression of concerns but also proactive participation in shaping our community’s future.
