Adaptive Sports Association to hold volunteer trainings

Adaptive Sports Association, a Durango-based nonprofit sports and recreation outfitter for the disabled, will host summer program volunteer trainings at the end of May.

Training is free, and it helps volunteers interested in the outdoors connect with residents.

Volunteers are needed to assist with daily programming, including whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, camping, rock climbing and more. No prior experience is necessary.

ASA’s programs enrich and transform the lives of people with disabilities through sports and recreation. By working with students to overcome physical and cognitive challenges, ASA staff and volunteers help clients “explore possibilities.”

Volunteer canoe and kayak trainings will take place May 23 and May 30. Rafting trainings will take place May 28 and May 31. Cycling trainings will take place May 24 and May 29.
