San Juan County, New Mexico, has announced the retirement of the long-time adult detention administrator, and the appointment of a new administrator.
Tom Havel has served as the administrator of the San Juan County Adult Detention center since 2000 and has announced his retirement effective Thursday.
Havel was instrumental in the construction of the San Juan County Adult Detention Center in 2005 and has since been recognized, with his staff, in obtaining and maintaining accreditation from the N.M. Adult Detention Professional Standards Council since 2013. In addition, Havel is a certified corrections executive as accredited by the American Correctional Association.
During Havel’s time as administrator, the Adult Detention Center has set the bar in the State of New Mexico and for professional management of the largest department in San Juan County government.
To replace Tom Havel, Stark has appointed the current Adult Detention Center Deputy Administrator, Daniel Webb.
Webb has served at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center for the last eight years under Havel. Prior to his current role, Webb served 15 years with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office achieving the rank of lieutenant. He joined the staff at the Adult Detention Center in 2012. Webb has also received the designation of certified corrections executive from the ACA.
Daniel Webb took over as ADC administrator Friday.
