A&E Happenings for Aug. 1

For this month’s First Thursday Art Walk, Toh-Atin Gallery will debut “Native Legends,” a collection of Native American paintings amassed by the gallery over several decades from personal collections throughout the Southwest. In addition to works by Jimmy Abeita (shown), “Native Legends” includes paintings by Harrison Begay, Jimmy Toddy Sr., James King, Robert Chee, Johnny Sacatero, Clifford Brycelea, Robert Becenti, Raymond Naja, Robert Draper and Marvin Toddy. The gallery is being rehung to display all of the paintings and every one will have a “Museum” explanation about the artist and the work.
