After wildfire, think of homeless animals

The fire that started in Hermosa is utterly horrific and heartbreakingly sad! The whole dangerous disaster could’ve been avoided if better decisions had been made from the beginning! If Al Harper decided to bench the coal-burning engines and use his diesel engine, our beautiful forests surrounding Durango wouldn’t be laid to charred waste! Our beautiful wildlife would not be displaced and suffering! Peoples homes would not be threatened.

The forests will take more than 20 years to show any kind of evidence of healing from the aftermath of this fire’s devastating power.

I understand that most people don’t have the compassion for wildlife – big, small, scaley or feathered – that I do, and that’s OK, but my heart breaks and aches for them. We as the dominant kings and queens of the jungle, so to speak, should respect, protect, give soulful regard to, and try to help our wildlife, now displaced and homeless.
