On May 23, I had the pleasure of attending my daughter’s graduation from Animas High School.
This was the most unusual and impactful graduation I have ever attended. I did not expect to be educated by attending this ceremony, but educated I was. Some of the 44 members of the graduation class were awarded cultural awards – a two-stranded gold cord for their cultural contributions to Animas High School. The students who were awarded these awards were chosen by the faculty of Animas High School.
When the students marched in for graduation, all of the students were wearing a culture cord. One of the students during their graduation speech told the audience a culture is not made up of a few select people, but true culture embodies all of us.
Wow. I will think of culture differently going forward! Thank you, class of 2014, for the education.
I have no doubt great things in life await you all.
