Aichele has all the treasurer credentials

I am writing in support of Allison Aichele for La Plata County treasurer. The job of treasurer is one that requires a background in financial management and accounting. Aichele has that. Her opponent, Colton Black, appears to have a background in selling financial products.

I note that Black holds licenses in Series 6, 65 and 63. I worked on Wall Street for a major securities firm and held Series 7, 3 and 63 licenses, so I am very familiar with the skills those licenses test. Those licenses give Black the ability to sell and advise on financial products such as annuities and investments. They are not particularly applicable skills for the job of treasurer.

The treasurer’s job is to send tax bills, receive funds and to disburse those monies to various county departments. This is a position that requires management and accounting experience. Aichele has extensive experience and has spent her first term updating and improving the outdated systems in the treasurer’s office. She is a Certified Public Accountant, has a BA in Accounting and an MBA and she has experience in accounting and human resource management for a Fortune 500 company as well as experience in managing the treasurer’s office.

I’m sure that Black is great at advising people on purchases of financial products but that is a completely different skill set that what is needed for the treasurer’s position. Vote for Allison Aichele.
