Airport issue has unanswered questions

I find good arguments for both sides on the airport expansion issue. But I have questions.

Why would we build a new terminal that can only handle present traffic? Build for the future.

Why can’t we move rental cars off site and extend the terminal and apron to the air tanker base to the east?

Why can’t we have more off-site parking? We can run a shuttle to both parking and rental car sites.

My big problems come from the wording of the ballot issue. It says: “Shall county taxes be increased $3,221,633 annually.” This should read “shall the county collect $3,221,633 more per annum” The way it is written, they could increase taxes $3 million the first year, then increase it again to $6 million the second year and so on.

There is no Sunset Clause in this. It could go on forever.

They set the mill levy each year. It even allows for building a reserve, not just debt service.

My big question: Is the FAA grant money guaranteed?
