The Albuquerque Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man who is connected with another man who killed his wife Monday in Albuquerque and was later killed by Albuquerque police officers.
APD detectives are investigating the connection between the missing man, Inn Sohn, 46, and Matthew Montoya, the man who killed his wife Monday and was killed by police officers later in the day.
Sohn attended the same church as Montoya, 52, and Montoya is believed to be the last known person to have seen Sohn before he went missing, said Rebecca Atkins, a communication specialist with APD, in a news release.
APD detectives had been trying to get in touch with Montoya before Monday’s incident in which he fatally shot his wife. Detectives tracked him down a few hours later and fatally shot him after confronting him in Northeast Heights.
Sohn was seen Aug. 25 in Durango and Aug. 29 in the Telluride area, Atkins said.
Sohn is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 130 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Detectives also believe he was seen at a liquor store in Norwood on Aug. 28, and unconfirmed sightings of him in Telluride on Aug. 27 have been reported.

Sohn has not contacted his family since Aug. 29.
According to a report by KOAT-TV, court records show Montoya had previous domestic violence charges with his estranged wife, Eva, and other charges with another woman dating back nearly 20 years.
Albuquerque police say Montoya shot and killed his wife Monday morning in the parking lot of an Albuquerque strip mall.
Officers say he then went to his daughter’s school, Holy Child Catholic School, and tried to pick her up. The school sent a statement saying staff members stopped him from getting the girl.
Detectives found Montoya at a friend’s house in northeast Albuquerque. APD officials have said Montoya was armed with a gun, but they are not releasing other details about what happened that led officers to shoot and kill Montoya.
According to KOAT-TV, police reports indicate Eva told officers that Montoya hit her, grabbed her phone and shoved her against a wall. There was another domestic violence charge in January 2019. He had two more charges involving another woman in 2001 and 2002. In each case, Montoya was not convicted.
The APD officers involved in the shooting Monday are on leave pending an investigation.
