Puffing feathers displaying girth
Rancos caw, called out to me
From atop a tall spruce tree
Throw me peanuts, I'll fly down
You'll recognize me, bird about town
Knows me by my green straw hat
Very much aware I possess a cat
Truth is she possessed me
First encounter met to be
Each powers over the other
Dude flies down, begins to hover
Lands on a curved tree bough
Wondering, will timing allow
To get a peanut in a split second
Caws for backup, he'll just beckon
Down comes the backup gang
No other reason just to hang
Freak the cat out stop her stalking
Playing coy, she starts walking
Walks away then springs to action
Only walked to create distraction
Magpies arrive, naturally stealthy
Shiny and sleek: looking healthy
All for peanuts.
