‘Almost Sunrise’ to be shown Nov. 15 in Durango

“Almost Sunrise” directed by Michael Collins, a film that tells the story of two Iraq War veterans who find a measure of peace by walking across America after harrowing combat experiences, will be shown at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Durango Arts Center.

“Almost Sunrise” tells the inspiring story of two young men, Tom Voss and Anthony Anderson, who, in an attempt to put their haunting combat experiences behind them, embark on an extraordinary journey, a 2,700-mile trek on foot across America.

Alpine Bank, in recognition of Veterans Day and in support of the Durango Elks Lodge No. 507, will sponsor a screening of the film at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

While the film exposes some of the brutality of war, it doesn’t dwell there. It’s ultimately a story of hope and potential solutions. Most importantly, the film reveals the promise of holistic practices for healing. Parents and educators should use their discretion if considering accompanying children 14 or younger.
