I write this letter to discuss the intersection of East Third Avenue, 15th Street and Florida Road. A roundabout at that location would be both fabulously expensive and technically unfeasible. There just isn’t enough space for a roundabout or signaled intersection without encroaching upon nearby properties, not to mention the trouble dealing with the slope.
The only difficult turn at that intersection is the left from Third Avenue onto 15th Street during periods of high traffic. The solution is to turn left at the four-way stop at Third Avenue and 12th Street, and go down to Main Avenue and take a right. For the unwary, put a little sign at Third Avenue and 12th Street, suggesting that alternative.
The intersection itself can be improved by removing the road divider on the downhill part of 15th Street that can make a left turn from Third Avenue somewhat sharp and tricky.
I’m sure I voted for that design. Sorry about that. Just jackhammer it out.
