For 332,000 Coloradans affected by Alzheimer’s disease, COVID-19 has created new challenges. Caring for loved ones with dementia in homes already poses many challenges. Doing it under the “stay at home” guidelines can make it even more stressful, including the strain of not being able to see and comfort loved ones quarantined in memory care facilities.
Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado ‘s staff members are working from home in accordance with public health guidelines, but most of services are available online or by telephone at no charge, including education classes, support groups and counsel from trained professionals.
Most of the association’s educational programs are delivered by volunteers, and new volunteers are always appreciated.
