Amendment 69: more tax, less choice

Please, voters, don’t be taken in by another pie in the sky “progressive” fast one. Amendment 69 is an amendment to the constitution. This should sound the alarm bells right away, as these amendments are permanent with very little recourse.

This amendment wouldn’t really even provide insurance itself. It calls for oversight from a board that citizens have no input on and that is alarming.

Add to those frightening ideas the increased taxes that have no future voter input that will harm the most vulnerable among us. An additional 10 percent tax on “capital gains” – which is defined as any profit you make on selling your house, land, a car, any personal belongings – the list goes on and on. 10 percent tax on Social Security income. If you’re on Medicare or PERA, you’re not eligible for Colorado Care.

But you still pay the 10 percent tax. Also, it is unknown if you will be covered if you leave the state of Colorado, if your health records would still be private or if there is a residence requirement.

Remember when the bill for Obamacare was presented and we had to pass it to know what was in it? Finally, remember that any citizen should run screaming into the night whenever said citizen hears, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”

We know how well Obamacare (Aetna just pulled out of 15 states), Amtrak, the Post Office and other government-run enterprises do. Vote “No” on 69.
