Amos places sixth in Czech Nove Mesto

Blevins places 17th in Elite race

Riley Amos continued his strong World Cup season in Saturday’s U23 race in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

Amos (Trek Factory Racing) finished sixth out of 161 riders in the race in 1 hour, 10 minutes and 6 seconds, crossing just 1:38 behind the winner, Chilean Martin Vidaurre Kossman of the Lexware Mountain Bike Team.

Amos also finished fourth in Petropolis, Brazil, and eighth in Albstadt, Germany, and is now fourth overall in the U23 with 195 points. Vidaurre Kossmann has won all three races and leads the standings with 375 points.

In the men’s elite race Sunday, Christopher Blevins of Specialized Factory Racing scored another top-20 finish. Racing in a field of 121, Blevins crossed 17th in 1:24:06. Thomas Pidcock of Great Britain took the win in 1:21:19.

Blevins is 24th in the cross-country Olympic standings. Nino Schurter of Switzerland leads.

Savilia Blunk of Orange Seal competed in the women’s elite race. However, Blunk ended up getting cut just before the final lap and finished in 58th out of 86 riders. After two World Cup races, Blunk is 61st in the overall standings.

The athletes will now have a couple of weeks before the next World Cup stop June 11-12 in Leogang, Austria.
