75 years ago: “Mrs. Allan Heldt of Carlsbad, Calif., returned to her home after a 10 day visit at the Fred Kroeger home.”

50 years ago: “The temperature has risen 125 degrees in Durango. In the past six months, that is. January temperatures dipped to the minus 30s here. Saturday’s high – July 6 – was 94.”

25 years ago: “Sixty-seven percent of Animas Valley residents – 154 out of 230 surveyed – support the adoption of zoning to regulate land use, according to survey results released by the La Plata County Planning Department. The same percentage said the county needs a new master plan incorporating land-use polices.”
