75 years ago: “Floyd Gregg, Durango pilot who recently obtained his license, escaped almost uninjured from a crash in which the plane he was flying landed in brush and scrub trees on the side of Goeglein Gulch. It is understood that a sudden down current of air caused the forced landing.”

50 years ago: The Kiva was showing Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” starring Jessica Tandy and Tippi Hedren. The billing read, “It could be the most terrifying motion picture I have ever made!”
