50 years ago: Fifteen-year-old Dennis Wayne Nugent of Farmington hit and killed a deer with his sedan while driving in Durango.

25 years ago: Daniel Jaramillo, a 36-year-old snowplow driver, was buried by a massive avalanche on Red Mountain Pass and, after 18 hours of being trapped, managed to squirm his way out of the slide and escape death.
