And the West is History

100 years ago: Charley Heathers returned to Durango from his sheep and cattle camp on the La Plata.

75 years ago: Burt Haigler, farm owner, sold a cellar-full of potatoes to the dehydration plant in Monte Vista for a cool $25,000.

50 years ago: Two deer ran into the street at 2002 Main Ave. and collided with a car being driven by Ann Seavy of Pagosa Springs. One deer struck the door of the vehicle, rolled over the top of the cab to the other side and sped off in the same direction, apparently uninjured.

25 years ago: A bomb threat was called into a dormitory at Fort Lewis College and resulted in a campuswide emergency evacuation.
