100 Years Ago: Mrs. J.T. Smith and her son, Earl Smith, of Missouri, were en route to Dolores to see a sick family member when Earl received word of her death. He kept the information from his mother in fear she might act irrationally.
75 years ago: Silverton residents were worried that enemy bombers could “find” their town when they saw three four-motored army bombers swoop over toward Eureka en route to Lowry Field in Denver.
50 Years Ago: Superintendent McKee was reported to be resting in the comfort of his home and recovering from the seizure he had the previous week.
25 years ago: Someone reported the windows of a passing car being shot out on the 900 block of East Fourth Avenue. Officers determined that two crows flew into and broke the windows after investigating further.
