And the West is History

100 years ago: Spring plowing was upon the farmers of Durango. A few mules were left “that didn’t enlist for the war.”

75 years ago: Plans were worked out for the collection of bottle caps and “all kinds of scrap metal thru the medium of local beverage dealers and bottlers,” as a result of an agreement between the beverage industry and the national government.

50 years ago: Promotions and transfers that involved Tenneco Oil Company exploration department personnel in Durango were announced, and included five residents.

25 years ago: Criminal mischief to a car on the 1200 block of Florida Road was reported. The license plate was taken, water was added to the gas tank and a screwdriver was inserted into the oil filter.
