50 years ago: “The summer season will get underway tomorrow when the Durango-Silverton train makes its first trip of the year. Tourists from throughout the country ... will be busy photographing the grand old steam engines and visiting the shops in Rio Grande-land.”
25 years ago: “During the last week, the overflowing (Animas) river and a rising water table have inundated fields between 32nd Street in Durango and Trimble Lane – no serious damage to property was reported.”
