50 years ago: Alva Lyons, retired Denver and Rio Grande Western conductor, noticed a pattern of abandonment by the railroad. Passengers who originally relied on rail transportation were diverted to buses, and freight-use declined as trucks became the new standard for shipping.
25 years ago: A man was unable to pay his bill at Denny’s, 666 Camino del Rio, and was taken to jail at almost 4 a.m.
