75 years ago: San Juan Archaeological Society, during its regular monthly meeting, voted to discontinue activity “for the duration.” The “crush of duties and activities related to the war, and difficulty of transportation” led them to suspend all future meetings.
50 years ago: Donovan C. Snyder, 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Snyder of 616 Sunnyside Drive, was selected as principal nominee for the Air Force Academy, according to a telegram he received from Sen. Gordon Allott.
25 years ago: A search-and-rescue team rescued a 74-year-old California man, who fell off a horse about a mile north of the South Fork Stables near Grandview, and was air-lifted to Mercy Medical Center to receive treatment.
