50 years ago: BAYFIELD – “Talk about lack of interest in elections. Towns throughout the San Juan Basin held city elections but not Bayfield. No one filed for office in Bayfield, so there was no election. The present town board will just have to serve again.”
25 years ago: DOLORES – “The state Division of Wildlife will release 10 river otters with transmitters into the Dolores River this year to help track the otters’ movement and behavior. Researchers hope to learn more about the animals’ behavior, eating habits, preferred areas and reproductive success.”
