100 years ago: “Several loads of willow and other pithy varieties of hardy shrub and tall trees were loaded out from Hermosa bound for Pagosa where they will be used it is said to bolster up the roadbed of the D. & R.G. at the place where a rain recently washed out the track.”
75 years ago: “Down at the Durango Chamber of Commerce, conveniently located in the 700 block on Main Avenue, is a newly installed card index which will prove a great boon to the visitor in Durango around Fiesta time. People throughout the city who have rooms available during Fiesta have listed them at the Chamber of Commerce.”
50 years ago: “Jerry McCaw of Ignacio, a summer employee of the Forest Service, bagged a bear with a bow and arrow while hunting on Hermosa Creek a few miles from the Columbine Ranger station.”
