75 years ago: The Kiva Theatre, 813 Main Ave., was showing “Charlie Chan’s Murder Cruise” starring Sidney Toler. Billing read, “The best of the Chan series!”
50 years ago: “Littering the highway with beer cans was expensive for three Fort Lewis College students who made the mistake of tossing cans and cartons out of a car in full view of Patrol Sgt. George Kenady.” The three students were fined $25 each.
25 years ago: “La Plata Community Hospital must pay $12,000 in attorney fees after it was found in contempt of court in connection with attempts to refinance the Medical Office Building. District Court Judge Al Haas said the hospital didn’t comply with a court order that required it either to pay $1.4 million to First Federal Savings and Loan of Fargo, N.D., who owns the office building, or relinquish ownership of the building.”
