75 years ago: “At the end of the first week of the fall term the total enrollment in Durango’s five public schools was 1,229 – a decrease of 28 from the 1937 total of 1,257.”
50 years ago: “Fort Lewis College has registered more than 200 students during the last year for an all-time enrollment high. Daytime students who have registered for the fall trimester number between 940 and 950. At the same time last year, 700-plus students had registered for the college’s first semester as a degree-granting institution.”
25 years ago: “The television translator on Missionary Ridge which beams KOBF-NBC to viewers north of Durango, and is also used by Hermosa Cablevision, is expected to be back in service. KOBF went off the air after the translator was apparently struck by lightning.”
