100 years ago: “A box car containing perishable provisions was attached to the Silverton passenger train and taken up. This was to insure a contained supply of the ‘eats’ to the boys in the hills.”

75 years ago: “More than 60 delegates were registered at the P.T.A. school of instruction held in the Smiley Junior High School. The school was adjudged a success from the educational and instructional standpoints.”

50 years ago: “Women who bowled 200 or over in 1962 or 1963 are asked to attend a meeting in the hospitality room of Western Colorado Power Co. to form a ‘200 Club.’”

25 years ago: “Legislation for the Animas-La Plata water project remained stalled in the U.S. Senate. However, members of both the Senate and House have been told to expect the current session to be extended beyond this week, given the Colorado delegation more time to resolve concerns about the project.”
