75 years ago: “A Durango man was a Valentine’s Day casualty, and his story can be told now that he is on his way to recovery. He sent out two valentines and his wife got the wrong one.”
50 years ago: The following appeared in the section titled Girl About Town: “The ladies are talking about Mrs. R. E. O’Brien and Mrs. Ray Calloway and what different colored hair changes did to their appearance. While Mrs. O’Brien’s grey color softened her appearance, Mrs. Calloway’s henna color made her look exactly as she wanted to look – for a costume affair.”
25 years ago: “Winter enrollment at Fort Lewis College increased nearly 2 percent over the same period as last year. The official student population as of Feb. 1 was 3,635 students – an increase of 1.7 percent over last winter’s enrollment of 3,574 students.”
