100 years ago: While in Durango purchasing supplies, Tom Rowe of the Perins Peak district said that the “commander of the fleet of airships which bombarded London Saturday seemed to be genuinely pained that one of his missiles didn’t hit the top of a crowded schoolhouse.”
75 years ago: The local draft board classified registrants for the fifth selective service group. A total of 257 people, ages 18 to 20, registered in the board’s jurisdiction. The oldest section of the group would be subject to immediate call by the board.
50 years ago: The president of Fort Lewis College, John F. Reed, scheduled a trip to the University of Montana to serve as a consultant for the National Science Foundation.
25 years ago: A man complained that his neighbor had been harassing him for the past year by calling his dog into another resident’s yard, then reporting the animal to the dog catcher.
