75 years ago: “Durango’s first Cub Scout pack was organized with the Presbyterian church as sponsor. Cub Scouts are 9, 10 and 11 years of age. They operate in dens and participate in an activity program.”

50 years ago: “The March 1 snow survey report of the Animas River, Upper San Juan and Upper Rio Grande drainages show a 0.3 to 5 inch water increase over last month’s readings and range from 112 percent to 182 percent of normal for the 15-year average of this date.”

25 years ago: “Continental Express airlines announced an increase in service to Durango, only a few months after Mesa Airlines said it would cancel jet services from Denver to Durango. Beginning June 15, Continental will have four nonstop flights every day except Saturday to Denver on its new ATR-42, a 46 passenger jet-prop valued at more than $8 million.”
