100 years ago: Harry Baugh, a traveling representative for Wyatt Hardware Co., visited Durango to solicit orders for munitions and heavy artillery. He was seen “smoking a seegar” and wearing “a real gold watch chain.”
75 years ago: John Craig, secretary of the local draft board, announced that “all boys from age 18” could be registered for military service.
50 years ago: Law enforcement officers arrested and jailed a man from Towaoc who drove his car into four other vehicles that were parked at Denny and Jones Motor Co. in Cortez.
25 years ago: Someone broke into a vending machine, broke two door locks and a window and stole a firearm scope and microphone at Durango Gun Club.
