100 years ago: “W.H. Norton, of the local Ford Car Agency, returned from Aztec and Farmington to get a new order book, having filled up his old one with calls from the prosperous ranchers of those sections. He goes back to land the rest of them for the Ford car with the self-starting flywheels.”
75 years ago: “Now is the time to brush up on the use of English, or the misuse of it, or to learn the usage of it in the business world. WPA classes in business English or the misuse of it will begin in the senior high school.”
50 years ago: SILVERTON – “Standard Metals Corp. through its attorney has denied polluting the Animas River with tailings from its mill at Silverton. The State Game Fish and Park Commission filed charges against the mining company.”

Sageser, the driving force behind the successful lodging tax initiative that will promote area tourism, was named Citizen of the Year at the Durango Area Chamber Resort Association’s awards banquet. ...
