100 years ago: “Failure of the Hall & McMahon Undertaking Company to file a bill with the board of county commissioners at the proper time, has lost that establishment the goodly sum of a quarter of a cent due from the county on its contract to bury the county paupers ‘one hundred for one cent.’ During 1913 the county undertakers buried about 25 bodies.” – Trinidad Chronicle-News

75 years ago: “An epidemic of flu at Silverton, which took two lives, is believed to have been checked successfully. All public gatherings including shows and schools are quarantined for this week as a precautionary measure.”

50 years ago: “Students registering at Fort Lewis College totalled 859. The figure includes students registered for the adult education classes as well as the daily college classes. The figure is also a preliminary one since registration continues throughout the week.”

25 years ago: “The combination of sagging profits and family stress prompted Ron and Bobbye Phillips to close down the 30-year-old A&B Clothing Store. ... A&B Clothing had a reputation for selling basic, traditional clothes until the last year or so, when the Phillipses also added lines of young, contemporary, career clothing. The store was purchased by Ken Aydelotte and Norman Beard in 1958. The store came into being in 1953, and was originally called Pore’s Clothing.”
