100 years ago: Mr. Hood announced that the Navy Recruiting party was ready to sign applications for recruits from Durango.
75 years ago: Eighteen Durango men were enlisted in the newly organized 301st Ordnance Regiment, 3rd Battalion, all of whom were to see overseas duty.
50 years ago: Ron Harmon, manager of the Kiva theater, was promoted to direct the new Olympus Drive-In theater in Salt Lake City. He was to attend a special training session for drive-in theaters in Denver before relocating to SLC.
25 years ago: Two batting helmets and 14 bats, valued at $300, were stolen from The Big Inning on Main Avenue.
