100 years ago: Colonel C.C. Ednected of the exemption board in Durango reported that registered men were “returning their questionnaires properly filled out very rapidly.”
75 years ago: Mrs. Ruth Stout and her 9-year-old daughter, Beth, of Denver arrived in Durango to make a home. Mrs. Stout had previously worked for the U.S. Reclamation Bureau and was transferred to the Forest Department as assistant clerk stenographer.
50 years ago: La Plata County Commissioners called a meeting to discuss county road and snow removal problems, following a winter storm that dropped 32 inches of snow on Durango, put a truck plow out of commission and broke two snowplow blades.
25 years ago: Durango Police Department received a noise complaint from a resident that a loud band was playing late at night at East 32nd Street and Main Avenue.
