And the West is History

100 years ago: Durango Planing Mill and Lumber Co. advertised “big loads” of kindling at $1.

75 years ago: District Attorney James M. Noland paid for goods with a counterfeit bill to teach Durango merchants a lesson.

50 years ago: A new dump site for trash and garbage opened a half-mile north of its former location on La Posta Road south of Durango.

25 years ago: A 30-year-old Durango resident was taken to Mercy Medical Center after a dirt bike crash. He drove over a downed wire fence, which snagged his bike and ejected him forward. He suffered cuts from the barbed wire and a fractured shoulder and wrist.
